# Migration checklist

> A copy-and-paste checklist for moving your projects, instructions, skills, and MCP servers into Gloo Code.

Copy this into an issue, a note, or your team's wiki and tick items off as you go. The first section is short.

## Get set up

* [ ] Your organization has a Gloo Code subscription and a seat is assigned to you ([Billing & Plans](/studio/billing#choosing-a-gloo-code-tier))
* [ ] Install Gloo Code with `curl -fsSL https://gloocode.ai.gloo.com/install.sh | sh`, then open a new terminal ([Installation & Setup](/gloocode/installation))
* [ ] Run `gloocode` and choose **Sign in with browser**
* [ ] Confirm the install with `gloocode --version`

## Open your first project

* [ ] Run `gloocode` from your project folder
* [ ] If the folder has its own config (`gloocode.json` or a `.gloocode`, `.claude`, or `.agents` folder), trust it when asked so its config, skills, and MCP servers apply (or type `/trust`)
* [ ] Ask `Explain this codebase` to see it working

## Bring your instructions

* [ ] Project `AGENTS.md` or `CLAUDE.md` is already loaded, with nothing to move
* [ ] Personal `~/.claude/CLAUDE.md` is already loaded, with nothing to move
* [ ] From Codex: copy `~/.codex/AGENTS.md` to `~/.config/gloocode/AGENTS.md`
* [ ] From Cursor, Copilot, or others: run `/init` and review the generated `AGENTS.md`
* [ ] Extra convention files: add them under `instructions` in `gloocode.json`

## Bring your skills

* [ ] Type `/skills` and confirm your skills from `.claude/skills`, `~/.claude/skills`, or `.agents/skills` are listed
* [ ] Try one with `/<skill-name>`

## Bring your commands

* [ ] Copy custom slash commands into `.gloocode/commands/`
* [ ] Run one to confirm it works

## Move your MCP servers

* [ ] Convert each server into the `mcp` section of `gloocode.json` ([recipes](/gloocode/migrate/mcp-servers))
* [ ] Use `{env:NAME}` for secrets and export them in your shell
* [ ] Sign in to OAuth servers with `gloocode mcp auth <name>`
* [ ] Check the list with `/mcps` or `gloocode mcp list`

## Learn the day-to-day

* [ ] Press **Tab** to switch between the **build** and **plan** agents
* [ ] Type `@` to mention a file
* [ ] Try `/undo` and `/redo`
* [ ] Try `/compact` and `/sessions`
* [ ] Run a one-off task with `gloocode run "your message"`
* [ ] Type `/models` to see the models you can choose from

## Share with your team

* [ ] Commit your `AGENTS.md` and project `gloocode.json` so teammates get the same setup
* [ ] Ask your Gloo AI admin to assign seats to the rest of the team ([Teams and seats](/studio/billing#teams-and-seats))
* [ ] Point teammates to this section
