How Gloo Works

Gloo is the AI platform layer between your application and AI model providers, wrapping leading models in a harness that keeps answers values-aligned. Build with them directly, or ingest your trusted content and ground answers in it, with sources cited. Your application talks to one API, and there are two ways to use it.

Use the models directly

Your application sends a question to the Gloo AI API, which runs it through third-party AI models wrapped in the Gloo Harness and returns a values-aligned answer The Responses (and Completions) APIs give you leading third-party models wrapped in Gloo’s harness, the values-alignment, safety, and governance layer that makes them Gloo’s model lineup rather than raw provider endpoints.

Ground answers in your content

Grounded flow: your application sends a question to the Gloo AI API, which searches the Data Engine for matching snippets of your trusted content (step 1), then runs inference through third-party AI models in the Gloo Harness with the prompt plus the retrieved snippets (step 2), and returns the answer Add your own content, ingested and kept current through the Data Engine from files, websites, YouTube channels, and feeds. When you call Grounded Responses (or Grounded Completions), Gloo handles the two-step flow shown above: semantic search finds the snippets of your content most relevant to the question, and the model answers using them, with citations back to your sources. Prefer to manage retrieval yourself? The Search API returns the matching snippets directly, so you can format the context and prompt the models on your own terms.
