AGENTS.md and CLAUDE.md files and the skill folders you already have, and it can build an AGENTS.md for you from other tools’ rule files. Your MCP servers and custom commands are the main things you copy over, and each is a short copy and paste.
This section walks you through it, task first.
Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Aider, Cline and GitHub Copilot are products of their respective owners, mentioned here only to describe how to bring your setup over.
The step-by-step path
1
Install and sign in
Run the installer, then start
gloocode in any folder. It opens Sign in to Gloo and signs you in through the browser. You need an organization with a Gloo Code subscription and a seat assigned to you. See Installation & Setup, or Gloo Code Desktop if you prefer a macOS app. Tiers and seats are in Billing & Plans.2
Open your project
Run
gloocode from your project folder. If the folder has its own Gloo Code config (a gloocode.json, or a .gloocode, .claude, or .agents folder), Gloo Code asks once whether you trust it. Say yes to apply the project’s own config, skills, and MCP servers. You can also type /trust at any time.3
Bring your instructions
Nothing to do if you already have an
AGENTS.md or CLAUDE.md. Gloo Code loads both, from the current folder up to the repository root, and it also loads your personal ~/.claude/CLAUDE.md. Coming from Cursor, Copilot, or another tool? Run /init and Gloo Code reads your existing rule files and drafts an AGENTS.md for you to review.4
Bring your skills
Skills in
~/.claude/skills, .claude/skills, ~/.agents/skills, and .agents/skills are discovered automatically. Type /skills to see what was found.5
Add your MCP servers
Add each server to the
mcp section of gloocode.json, or run gloocode mcp add for a guided wizard. See Move your MCP servers for copy-and-paste conversions from Claude Code and Codex.6
Pick a model and an agent
Gloo Code chooses the model for you, so there is nothing to set up. You choose the agent: press Tab to switch between build, which does the work, and plan, which reads and proposes. To pick a model yourself, type
/models.7
Run your first task
Describe what you want in plain language, for example
Explain this codebase or Fix the failing test in src/auth. Type @ to mention a file. If you don’t like a result, /undo rolls it back.
